Charitable Organizations
Charitable Organizations

As has been the trend at the last couple conferences, the NCBC would like to provide a positive impact on the community in the host court location. Texas Northern has selected to spotlight two organizations to receive donations from anyone who wishes to do so. Both the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth and the Humane Society of North Texas make it easy to donate online via direct monetary donations, as well as virtual shopping links that will ship the items selected directly to the organization!

If you are so moved to make a donation to one of these organizations, or any other group you choose in the Fort Worth area, please bring printed proof of the online donation or donation items with you to the Conference Registration desk by Noon on Wednesday, August 27. You will be given a ticket for the drawing of a "Texas Goodie Bag" as a thank you for your hospitality!

Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth

The Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth (RMHFW) supports the families of children who are being treated at local Fort Worth hospitals. The mission of RMH of Fort Worth is to provide essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare. Their vision is “a world where every family has what they need to ensure the best health outcomes for their children”.

RMHFW serves families through several programs. The Ronald McDonald House is a “home-away-from-home” for families where they can stay and be close to their ill or injured children while they are being cared for in nearby hospitals. One of those nearby hospitals is Cook Children’s Medical Center (CCMC). Over eighty-five percent of children whose families are supported by RMHFW are treated at CCMC. RMHFW provides a family room at CCMC where family members can rest and recharge while staying at the hospital with their child. RMHFW also provides a “day program” for families that are not temporarily living at the house but need a place away from the hospital to rest and recharge during the day. Another program offered by RMHFW is their hospitality cart program that is located inside local Fort Worth hospitals. The carts provide families with complimentary items such as travel sized toiletries like toothpaste, mouthwash, bodywash, deodorant, etc.

While living at RMHFW, families are provided with food items such as cereal, oatmeal, breakfast bars, snack items, coffee, etc. RMHFW depends on donations of these food items as well as donations of cleaning supplies, hospitality cart items, gift cards for the families for gas, restaurants, and local stores, and household essential items such as paper towels, napkins, facial tissues and more. Below is a snapshot of RMHFW data from 2024.

RMHFW provides several easy ways to donate and support their mission. Monetary donations can be given via their website. Hospitality cart items can also be donated at the conference for delivery to RMH.

Humane Society of North Texas

The Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) serves communities in the Fort Worth and Dallas areas by providing a variety of services dedicated to ending animal cruelty and pet homelessness. HSNT works to find homeless pets their forever home and to support the community by providing services aimed at keeping people and their pets together. The vision of HSNT is to build a community where pets and people save each other. Their mission is to save, shelter, protect, and advocate for all animals in need in North Texas.

The Humane Society of North Texas was founded in 1905 and is the oldest animal welfare organization in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. While the organization’s name has evolved from the Fort Worth Humane Society in 1905, to the Tarrant County Humane Society in 1910, to the Humane Society of North Texas in 1982, its focus has always been on caring for animals in need. HSNT provides services such as pet adoptions, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations, returning lost pets to their owners, cruelty investigations, and humane euthanasia. HSNT operates 3 pet adoption centers in Tarrant County as well as several PetSmart Cat Adoption Centers, several Petco Cat Adoption Centers and an equine and livestock ranch located in Johnson County.

The Humane Society of North Texas provides several ways to donate to help them support the community. Monetary donations can be given online via their website and can be paid by credit card, bank account debit, and PayPal. Donations can also be given by shopping the HSNT wish lists on Amazon and Chewy; the links on their website to Amazon and Chewy take you directly to their wish list.
